Nicolee Payne is an Australian artist based in the Hawkesbury region of New South Wales.
She began her creative career drawing licensed characters for a leading toy manufacturer and designing style guides for the ABC Children's Television Department. Her freelance work later expanded into private and commercial commissions, primarily of a mythical and fantasy nature. Drawing from this extensive body of work, Nicolee also created a unique series of Inspirational Cards designed to encourage creativity and personal expression.
Around 2013, Nicolee's artistic focus evolved toward portraiture and animal subjects. In 2014, she was selected as a finalist in the prestigious Archibald Portrait Prize for her portrait of rugby league cult hero Fui Fui Moi Moi.
Today, Nicolee's work is centred on developing original painting collections inspired by the beauty of Australian nature and wildlife.
Through her vibrant and expressive artworks, she celebrates the unique character of native animals, birds, and landscapes, creating pieces that reflect her deep appreciation for the natural world yet still reflecting that whymsical feeling all her art has.
Nicolee continues to undertake select private and commercial commissions and illustration projects.
